A friend recently told me that he had just established a new business and required some counsel. He is on a small fixed income and has used up his charge cards for his business start-up, but right now he has no clientele.
He is simply saying affirmations that he has already become a success and is totally free of debt. He is asking whether he should pay his bills when they arrive, even though the cash isn't in the bank yet. He decides that these solid steps would prove his faith.
My Answer: Faith is awesome - and is very critical. There are, on the other hand, times when faith alone just isn't enough.
I counseled him that he ought to pay more attention to the actual facts instead of faith by itself and focus on learning to provide a service that is NEEDED by other people. (Note the emphasis is on what "they" need.) He must recognize that although faith is a essential element to manifesting, the other part of the equation is deliberate action.
Paying your bills with bad checks is not faith. It's called desperation. When you're concerned about how you're going to settle the bills - or what you're going to eat - or how to maintain a roof over your head, your mind-set is not conducive to creating anything good, let alone bring you a very successful business enterprise.
We all have to keep in mind that all faith needs something more. If you're in an jet and it's spinning nose down, you'll first don your parachute - THEN you can say some affirmations.
There's a saying in the bible "Faith without works is dead", It means exactly that. Faith needs to be inherently joined with action. Purposeful action. If it's not, then it's not in essence faith, it's only an effort to mislead yourself.
Lots of people imagine that they can pray with just faith, and this will keep them from having to make decisions or take some action. Absolutely not! That's not the way it works. Actions and faith must be blended together as a synergistic whole and work together. Neither one works successfully without the other.
So, while positive thinking is very good and absolutely essential, powerful positive action is the other corresponding ingredient. Simply put, you'll never pray yourself up a hill without a bit of action.
When you're completely willing to take action, with no holds barred, then the whole world moves too. You'll start to become aware of the coincidental occurrences, and the unexpected meetings with just the most suitable person to help you move forward. Things will start happening with amazing regularity. But it first took the action by you to set all that activity into motion. ACTION. Alone it's all just wishful thinking.
Some folks might call those actions by a different name. In some cases it might be called zeal, In other instances it might purely be hard, hard work. It's all perseverance to do what it takes.. But it sure keeps the action going.
Quite often the only way to progress is to take a roundabout way on the way to your goals. No, it isn't a "wrong turn." It's just an alternative way of getting where you're going - apparently a necessary one. No matter what it takes.
Just don't stop trying and give up on your dreams whenever life throws you a curve. The important thing is your desired goal - not the pathway you take to get you there.
Don't let impetuosity throw you off track on the route to your goal. Impatience has eliminated so many dreams because you think that it has to transpire NOW. It may be just around the next turn in the road. All you may have to do is only take a few extra steps - or wait around for a few more days ...
It may possibly help to think of your idea of the future as a high mountain. If we could make a direct route to the top, that would be great. What frequently happens however, is that we end up going on the side roads with lots of twists and turns on the way up the mountain. As long as we continue to look toward the mountain peak however, we will continually climb - up -up and finally we WILL reach our goal.
This may appear a bit cut-and-dried, but it's correct, after all. I'm living proof as I wandered through life. I've had many wonderful "faith" occurrences over the years and yes, every now and then I even contemplated that faith alone just MIGHT work, but by and large, my most successful experiences with faith have been shared with hard work.
The truth is, it's all part of the obscure process called FAITH.
